Ravi Zacharias tells a story of an older man who asked him when he was young, “Do you know what you are doing now?”
Ravi thought it was some kind of trick question.
Tell me,” Ravi said.
You are building your memories,” the older man replied, “so make them good ones.”
I came to this realization late in life when I couldn’t think of one good memory between my mother and me. When I asked her about it, she couldn’t think of one either.
At first I was shocked and sad, but then, from that moment on, I began purposefully setting out to make good memories with my mother. Three years later she walked on to be with her Creator, and I am so glad that I have some good memories to replace the long years of hurt.
Encouraging words for my specific situation at this moment in time thank you very much
